Hippogryph
Der Hippogryph ist ein seltsames Paradoxon¸ das die Eleganz eines riesigen Adlers mit der Stabilität eines Pferdes vereint. Er ist eine Mischung aus zwei Dingen¸ die logischerweise nicht zusammenpassen. Doch irgendwie entsteht aus dieser ungewöhnlichen Verbindung etwas¸ das beide Elemente aufwertet. Im Laufe der Zeit symbolisierte der mythische Hippogryph alles¸ von der Widersprüchlichkeit religiöser Überzeugungen bis hin zur unerschütterlichen Kraft der romantischen Liebe. Für mich steht er dafür¸ dass das Ganze mehr sein kann als die Summe seiner Teile. Erhaben und doch bodenständig. Poetisch und doch praktisch. Der Name "Hippogryph" rührt daher¸ dass er voller solcher Gegensätze ist. Meine größten Einflüsse sind strukturierte Legacy-Systeme wie Dungeons & Dragons und leichtere¸ freiere Mechaniken wie die von Fate. Mein Ziel mit diesem System war es¸ die Stärken beider Stile zu nutzen¸ ihre jeweiligen Schwächen auszugleichen und etwas Einzigartiges¸ Unterhaltsames und Praktisches zu schaffen. Das System¸ das Sie gleich lesen werden¸ entstand als Hybrid aus dem D20 SRD und Fate Accelerated. Pferd und Adler. Keine bloße Umwandlung des einen in das andere¸ sondern etwas völlig Neues¸ das die Stärken beider vereint. Mir gefällt das Ergebnis. Ich hoffe¸ es gefällt Ihnen genauso gut. Somehow the unlikely remix produces something that elevates both of its antecedents. Throughout time¸ the mythical hippogryph has symbolized everything from the contradictory nature of religious belief to the unyielding power of romantic love. For me¸ it represents how the whole can be more than the sum of its parts. Lofty yet grounded. Poetic yet practical.
Hippogryph is so named because it is full of such dichotomies. My strongest influences are structured legacy systems like Dungeons & Dragons and lighter¸ more free-form mechanics like those found in Fate . My goal with this system has been to leverage the strengths of each style¸ use them to compensate for their collective limitations¸ and create something singular¸ entertaining¸ and practical.
The system you are about to read began as a hybrid of the D20 SRD and Fate Accelerated . The horse and the eagle. Not a conversion of one to the other¸ but a whole¸ new thing incorporating the strengths of both. I like how it turned out. Hopefully¸ you will enjoy it for what it is.
