The Asmodeus Society is an ancient organization dedicated to providing pleasures and diversions - often decadent¸ if not outright illegal - to its members¸ which consists of the crème de la crème of elite society. The Society exists as an "escape valve" for those who must constantly display an air of sobriety and responsibility. The masses believe that the Society consists of well-to-do members who sit around regaling each other with tales of financial exploits while sipping expensive wine. What actually occurs is wilder than the most sordid of dreams.
