Welcome to the Harbingers Roleplaying Game - a free-form open roleplaying game system! This comprehensive system allows you to play a TTRPG in any setting¸ with any sort of characters - without limitations. If you or your group has ever thought "Well¸ I'd like to play an alernative history with magic set in the French Revolution?" You can. If perhaps someone has suggested "Why don't we play a sci-fi campaign set in a future where Japan has discovered a quantum spacee engine?" You can do that too. Or perhaps you just want a custom system that's highly customizable and controllable for your homebrew fantasy world. The Harbingers RPG supports this as well. In addition to various general settings and homebrew creations¸ you can also use The Harbingers RPG with famous settings from your favorite books¸ movies¸ TV¸ and games with little-to-no adjustment. This game is made precisely for this sort of integration. This game features: - Building characters from the ground up with an Experience-based system without classes or levels. Game Masters can adjust this value to create the classic "start out as farm kid to grow to legendary hero" experience¸ or use the default values to create a capable professional who still has room to grow with life and game experiences. - Custom powers and techniques. Default passive and active abilities are supplied to run the gamut of very realistic settings to high-powered magic and futuristic technologies. Monsters¸ androids¸ superheroes¸ and more are also supported. With these default passive Traits and active Techniques¸ Players and Game Masters alike are encouraged to make their own to create truly unique moves and features for every PC and NPC. - Skill system that works in all settings. The Harbingers RPG uses broad-based Skils to determine a character's competency in various types of tasks. Traits determine specialized training or natural ability in more narrow fields. For your custom settings (or famous ones that have specific rules)¸ there are guidelines on how to create Traits or introduce Skills to accomodate those unique setting parameters. - Game rules that are combat agnostic. The Harbingers RPG is built from the ground up to support a combat-less experience as well as an action-packed combat experience¸ and combat itself has no special unique rules that do not apply to any other sort of Skill Roll. It is possible to build a top-tier lawyer¸ a skilled blacksmith¸ or a pacfiist diplomat with no adjustment to the base rules.
