Miskatonic Repository: Samurai - Occupations and monsters adapted to Feudal Japan
Samurai¸ being several occupations and monsters adapted to the Sengoku Period of Japan¸ for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition
If you want somewhere different to set your Cthulhu games¸ what about ancient Japan?
Play as a samurai¸ a bushi¸ a ronin¸ geisha¸ shinto priest or a buddhist monk. Save the heimin ("peasant") villages or your diamyo ("lord") from the predations of a new list of horrors. Drive a kappa away from the village fishing grounds¸ save your lord from the haunting of a kuei or rescue a village maiden from becoming the wife of a terrible oni.
Don't consider this fodder for a fanstay setting though; the monsters are just as sanity wrenching as anything else in the Cthulhu Mythos. It is a chance to play out horror stories in a medieval Japanese setting and a katana won't save your sanity!
The 8 page document includes six occupations and six monsters (seven if you include the Kuei 'demon-ghost').
