Dark Visitations - Cthulhu Eternal Lost Masterpieces
Two Lost Golden-Age Scenarios by Kevin A. Ross - Re-Animated from their Essential Saltes”
This PDF collects two early scenarios written by Kevin Ross¸ a titan of the Lovecraftian RPG scene and one of the writers responsible for setting the long-term direction for the whole hobby in its early days. His career as a published writer began in 1989 (with the publication of a scenario that incidentally first gave famous form to The Yellow Sign)¸ and extended through the most prolific years of the 1990s (during which he wrote Lovecraft Country guidebooks for Kingsport and Innsmouth)¸ right up to today.
But even those earliest published scenarios were not the first Lovecraft-inspired RPG adventures Kevin wrote. In the early-to-mid 1980s¸ he was already working on numerous such writing projects¸ completing a number of scenarios. For various reasons¸ none of those have seen publication.
Until now.
We're thrilled to be able to present two of these early works by Kevin¸ updated to work with the newest open-source D100 Lovecraftian game engine¸ but retaining the "old school" sensibility of the 1980s. Both these scenarios pit the Protagonists against the Mi-Go¸ one of HPL's most imaginative creations.
Interesting in their own right as historical documents ... these adventures also serve as great short bites of genuine classic horror.
-?- A Night on Bald Mountain
The Protagonists learn of the curious disappearance of a relative - a reclusive uncle who lived near the town of Augustin¸ Vermont. Travelling to the remote but verdant region¸ they will become enmeshed in a mystery which has its roots in dark sorcery ... and visitors from beyond the human sphere.
-?- Reclamation Project
The Protagonists encounter a very odd research project being performed in secret at the university in their hometown. Why have so many of the best scientific minds on campus been summoned to provide their expertise? And why have there been a sudden spate of break-ins and prowlers reported around campus?
-?-
Both scenarios can be played with either the open-source Cthulhu Eternal Jazz Age SRD or the Cthulhu Eternal Modern Era SRD. For your convenience we've bundled both SRDs with this scenario. The adventure also comes with isolated digital versions of all maps and illustrations¸ to make it easier to run on a VTT of your preference.
This is the first in our "Lost Materpieces" line of self-contained scenarios hailing from classic vintages of the Lovecraftian RPG hobby¸ but obscure or unfairly forgotten. "That is not dead which can eternal lie ..."
What is Cthulhu Eternal?
