My fingers are frozen. I can hardly write. The cold has penetrated my many layers of wool. As we finally reach the top¸ a small orange building looks like it's about to be torn down by the blizzard. This monastery perched at the top of this cursed mountain¸ which we have been climbing for 18 days¸ is seen as our salvation. It will not replace those taken last night in the avalanche. But it will comfort the survivors. We hope to be able to heal our wounds¸ sleep a little¸ and of course pray. Pray for what awaits us on the other side of the slope...
