Convicts & Cthulhu Ticket of Leave 4
Survey the Colonial Horrors and Hidden Secrets of 18th Century Australia.
◊
The early penal colonies survived on a razor's edge¸ kept alive on the most primitive and basic of supplies and military provisions. Successive Governors complained bitterly of the perils of leaving such a large assemblage of convicted criminals poorly defended¸ in a far-off land for which other European powers still held strong interest. The irascible Governor Bligh took matters into his own hands¸ ordering an extensive survey of the colony to prove once and for all exactly how dire the conditions truly were¸ and how great the peril of violent rebellion or invasion. Of course¸ in a land infused by the horrors of the Mythos¸ there may be still more terrible catastrophes lurking just beyond the boundaries of settlement. Digging deeply into the truth underlying the colony's many secrets -- and correlating that information -- might be a far more risky undertaking than anybody thinks.
◊Ticket of Leave #4 is a double-size supplement which borrows from the historical incident of Bligh's Grand Muster to create a detailed campaign frame which Convicts & Cthulhu Keepers can use to send their players' investigators to some of the most far-flung and frightening parts of the colony. Charged with collecting the Governor's information they must travel from place to place¸ passing through dangerous and poorly-explored territories. The Ticket of Leave also includes a detailed scenario outline which can be used to kick off a grand campaign -- complete with three choices of ending¸ each of them poisoned (but in different ways) by the corrupt forces of the Cthulhu Mythos.
◊Tickets-of-Leave are small self-contained additions to the Convicts & Cthulhu setting for Lovecraftian roleplaying in the early penal colonies of Australia. Each includes a selection of game elements which can either be used collectively as a thumbnail sketch of a mini-scenario¸ or can be used in isolation to provide pieces that enhance a scenario of your own invention.
◊This is not a standalone product¸ but relies upon the Convicts & Cthulhu setting also published by Cthulhu Reborn. The Convicts & Cthulhu core book is a lavishly illustrated 96-page sourcebook available in both PDF and print as a "Pay-What-You-Want" title.
Convicts & Cthulhu is designed to allow Call of Cthulhu Keepers and players to run scenarios and campaigns set in the penal colonies of early Australia. It particularly targets the historical period from 1795 to 1810.
