Project Ikaros
Psychic powers are real - that's common knowledge now. If you hear someone in your head¸ or see someone setting fires with a glance¸ you report it. Someone will take care of it. That someone is sent by Project Ikaros. And if you have psychic powers¸ or care about anyone who does¸ you're either working for Ikaros¸ working against them¸ or trying to get away from them.
Project Ikaros is a super-slim¸ self-contained¸ lo-fi sci-fi RPG about elite agents pursuing rogue psychics. Its inspirations include Akira¸ Stranger Things ¸ Mass Effect¸ X-Men¸ Shadow Ops¸ and Psi*Run. It's 3 pages and a cover¸ fitting on two sides of a letter-sized page.
- Basic rules for play based on the FREE 24XX SRD and Emergency Rules
- Expanded options for psi powers¸ including 5 powers in each of clairvoyance¸ pyrokinesis¸ telekinesis¸ and telepathy
- Options for character histories¸ including 20 options for the mundane job you used to hold (usable as a skill)
- GMing prompts including 10 agents¸ 10 agitators¸ 20 scenario seeds¸ 20 rumors¸ lies¸ or revelations¸ and 20 fun locations for chases and fight scenes
What is 2400? 2400 is lo-fi sci-fi. It's centuries in the future¸ and it's a decades-old modem that screams like a dying robot when it connects to the net. It's a space ship with an FTL drive¸ artificial gravity¸ and a flickering display you gotta tap a few times to see the jump coordinates. It's hacking something together with whatever cheap materials you have on hand¸ ignoring the rules until you need them¸ banging out something that might not sound finished¸ but definitely sounds fun. It's a series of micro RPGs that might all be in the same setting¸ unless they aren't.
