Starship Troopers
A military sci-fi RPG based on the nineties computer-animated TV series (""Roughnecks Chronicles"")¸ the 1997 Paul Verhoeven film¸ and the 1959 Robert A. Heinlein novel. The PCs are troopers in powered armor who are engaged in war with bug-like aliens. This is a standalone game which uses a variant of the D20 System developed for 3rd editionDungeons & Dragons. Characters are almost all of the ""Trooper"" class¸ but may add cross-training classes such as neo-dog handler¸ marauder driver¸ and medic. There is also a Special Service Agent class with its own psionics system. The RPG¸ which will follow an all new Open rules system¸ will permit players to take the part of small MI strike teams or investigate the 'perfect' society humanity has constructed¸ while the graphic novels will introduce new elements to the background¸ as well as bring back some familiar faces. At the centre of this range will be a series of highly detailed 30mm miniatures¸ in both metal and plastic¸ that will allow players to collect armies of Mobile Infantry¸ vehicles¸ Arachnid Warriors¸ Brain Bugs¸ Skinnies and many more! Based on the original novel by Robert Heinlein¸ the two movies and the Roughnecks Chronicles animated series¸ this is a game of high-octane excitement¸ danger and glory on the battlefields of far-off star systems.
By playing Starship Troopers¸ you can create a character who lives both in the far future as well as in your own imagination and that of your friends. There are three routes into Starship Troopers ‐ the original novel¸ the two films or the Roughnecks Chronicles TV animated series. It is very likely that¸ as a roleplayer¸ you will be familiar with at least one of these. The Starship Troopers roleplaying game is based mainly on the Roughnecks series though it also draws heavily on the novel. You will also find many elements from the two films included. So¸ if you are a 'Heinlein Purist'¸ as they sometimes like to be called¸ you will be happy to find power armour¸ orbital drops and the central philosophy that ran right through the original novel.
The basic game will give players the chance to join the Mobile Infantry and serve the Earth. More advanced players might like to try their hand as Fleet officers or even ordinary civilians¸ exploring the politics of the United Citizens' Federation. In short¸ there is a whole galaxy to explore!
