In Deus Ex¸ you play a member of the pantheons of 'The Mystic Domains.' Despite the fact that all of the characters are pregens¸ there is enough leeway and choice that you'll find one that suits you at least about as well as one you'd created yourself¸ if not better. Also¸ a great many of them can change gender¸ so no worry about Gods versus Godesses and player balance.
