College of the Tragedian - Bard College
We do on stage things that are supposed to happen off. Which is a kind of integrity¸ if you look on every exit as being an entrance somewhere else." ‐ The Player¸ Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead When one thinks of the bard¸ images of a wandering minstrel come to mind. Using music as magic to support and exalt the adventurers in her company or rousing his party to courage and honor through poetry¸ such bards have made their mark in the adventuring world since the advent of adventuring as a profession. Seen less frequently among adventurers are those bards who craft their performances through mastery of acting. Bards of the College of the Tragedian tend to stick together¸ either working from a home theatre¸ or traveling in a troupe with other actors. Adventuring is a rare indulgence for the Tragedians¸ though it seems that this tradition is parted with more frequently of late. Tragedians who take up the adventurer's mantle tend to do so as a matter of study. The College of the Tragedian teaches its members to engage with others¸ to learn their mannerisms and drives so that these can be drawn upon to craft more authentic performances. For most Tragedians this means being something of a social butterfly. These bards learn to move through all strata of society with ease¸ picking up etiquette¸ insight¸ and knowledge along the way. Those who step beyond simple social study¸ into the world of adventuring¸ discover a whole new set of tools and resources from which to draw a performance. If playing well the role of a noble is a matter of treating with nobility¸ then shouldn't one seeking to portray a grizzled hobgoblin commander engage with the same? Adventuring Tragedians would argue in the affirmative. Included in this document is all you need to select the College of the Tragedian option for your Bard and bring a theatrical flair to your adventure!
