Zarumilla: The Peru Invasion of Ecuador 1941
This little known military offensive in July 1941 involved the Peruian army attacking Ecuador over a long standing border dispute. The attack was a minature "blitzkrieg" involving Czech 38 tanks¸ US and Italian aircraft against an unprepared Ecuador (think¸ the destruction of the German Army Group Center in 1944). While WW2 had nothing to do with it¸ the Peruian use of paratroops even caught the eye of Hitler in their accolades. The Ecuador troops fought well against infantry but when combined with tanks and aircraft bombing¸ most fled. The attack lasted just a week. While the game is easy¸ it does require planning with its unique system where units that move and attack are weaker than those who have not moved before attacking.
Game scale is 1-1.5 mileshex with daily turns. Units mostly company or platoon. 1 11x17 inch map¸ 280 counters.
