Somalia: Interventions
Since its collapse under the effects of famine in 1990¸ Somalia has rarely known peace or been free of outside interference. The UN's humanitarian mission metamorphised to a peacekeeping operation under the weight of "bandit' attacks. These operations then escalated in some areas into open warfare although rarely on the scale presented in the movie Blackhawk Down. In more recent years Somalia has divided into 3 sub-nations. While Somalilan and Putland have acheved some measure of stability the regional nations still struggle to bring some stability to more than half the country. Somalia Interventions is a high level simulation of several key periods in the recent history of Somalia. The main rulebook includes scenarios concerning the UN intervention¸ the rise of the ICU and the civil war that follows on from there. A separate booklet contains a modified ruleset to play out the hypothetical War on Terror intervention Components: 8 page Rulebook 4 page Sword of Dubya booklet 11 x 17 map 176 full color 5/8 couonters 1 Reference Chart Complexity: Low-Medium Solitaire Suitability: Average Time to play: 2-20 hours Map Scale: Regions Unit Size: Irregular Turn Length: Month
