Voidheart Symphony is a roleplaying game about regular people fighting the good fight against supernatural forces that want to control¸ diminish¸ and disempower them. The revised edition (new for 2025) expands the setting and updates the rules.
Players are rebels¸ individuals fighting to keep the people and places they love safe from the malevolent force of the castle. They fight in the real world¸ studying their targets and learning their weaknesses¸ then delving into their enemies' psychic palaces to defeat them. No group of rebels can go it alone: they draw strength from their friends¸ their families¸ and the communities around them - something the castle's coercion and control can't rival.
Gameplay combines investigation and holding together a mundane life (someone's gotta pay the rent) with cinematic combat¸ and powers stories about a particular group of people making their particular part of the world better. It's about strength¸ hope¸ and triumph - though not without cost.
With mechanics Powered by the Apocalypse¸ it's perfectly tailored to the stories players will want to tell¸ and easy to learn for anyone who's played other PbtA games.
Use the brand new Kick in the Door chapter as a guided tutorial to learn while you play¸ then move on to long-term campaigns or short one offs with equally satisfying outcomes.
