Potential Cards
If you haven't seen the awesome new RPG system called Upwind¸ you should check it out! They have the free Upwind Primer for the setting and system here on DriveThruRPG. The Q System introduced in Upwind is a brand new and innovative system for handling combat¸ skill checks¸ social interactions¸ and anything that requires a challenge. I can't tell you enough how much I am in love with this system as it takes away the clunky rules-grinding in most game systems. It's my new favorite go-to system for when I solo RPG. While eagerly awaiting the Kickstarter goodies and their Knight's Deck¸ I wanted to make my own card deck my gaming group and I could use specifically for this game. I contacted Jeff at Biohazard games and was graciously given his blessing to post this deck for the world to access. Thank you¸ Jeff! This Potential Deck is a standard deck of cards (52 cards plus 2 jokers) with some modifications to help with Upwind and the Q System of play. 1) Each suit is marked with the associated Potential (magic) and the attributes governed by that Potential. You'll be able to easily pull out your Potential deck and remember what it stands for. 2) The rules for crowning the face cards are printed on the face cards. 3) There are 6 additional cards (bringing the total deck count up to 60 cards) that can be used as cache markers. I found it was nice to identify whether or not I had used my caches each session¸ so a card flipped face-up or face-down can now signify whether or not that cache has been used. I have included a card for the Knight's¸ Ancestral¸ Cultural¸ and Trait caches as well as a Relic cache card (in case your relic allows you a cache) and a Story cache card that can be rewarded by the GM for miscellaneous purposes. Please check out the Upwind Primer and consider pre-ordering Upwind through their Backer Kit which is available on the News page of the Biohazard website.
