Doomhold Barrow (Isle of Storms solo series)
![]() |
How far would you go for love? Even beyond the veil of death?
When Clara's friend and mentor passes away¸ she can't let him go. For weeks¸ she turned to the research of forbidden religious texts. Now Clara is missing and the clues to finding her are torn journal entries you find strewn in the chambers of the chilling Doomhold Barrow.
---
Clara's eyes are open¸ but she does not seem to see. Her back is arched¸ and her mouth wide open in a silent scream. A skeletal figure cloaked in inky black robes stands on the opposite side of the stone slab on which she lies¸ waving its bony hands over her motionless body.
You gaze into the twin red pinpricks of light where the elder skeleton's eyes should be¸ and wonder if you will share Clara's fate. A voice speaks in your mind - resonating deep within your soul¸ "Have you too come in search of the Only Truth?"
---

How does the solo game work without a DM?
As your character travels through the adventure¸ the green text boxes like the one above contain descriptions of what the character can see¸ hear or smell. This is really helpful information to inform the decision the character makes.
There are two versions of the encounter - Normal and Heroic. Having two difficulty levels helps you to balance the encounters to suit your level of difficulty¸ so they're more challenging (and fun!)
Your character can then make choices like in the sample below:
Options can quite often also include ability checks¸ like the Dexterity (stealth) check in the example above. Options can also interact with each other¸ for example: failing the stealth check in the Stealth option would lead to combat.

This adventure makes use of the 5th edition Player's Handbook¸ Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual.
