When I was young¸ one of my favorite movies was Gunhed ¸ a 1989 sci-fi adventure movie about a group of high-tech plunderers who accidentally reactivate some super-computer AI on a foreign island and thereby starting a chain of events that ended with a giant-robo-rumble only the guys of TOHO may deliver to you. A few years later I realized that all the names of said salvagers started with "B": Bansho¸ Bebe¸ Barabbas¸ Boomerang¸ Bombay¸ Boxer. Most them weren´t even proper names but simple some noun or nick name¸ and I found that neat. I thereby wrote my own list of "Alphabet Team" and hereby offer them as a pay-what-you-want PDF. There are seven nick/code names for every letter of the alphabet but the last three (X¸ Y¸ Z). Use them as a source of inspiration for your next NPC team: make up your mind about who and what these NPC are¸ what their stats are and what role they have in the team¸ then decide upon a letter of the alphabet and apply the names. Once that is done¸ think about changes you can add to your character to make that name fit. For example¸ what is the difference between the "muscle/fighter" NPC going by the name of Jackel compared to who and what the NPC would be if the name was Dancer ? The names are all "modern" and will suit best to a modern¸ cyberpunk or scifi game. Have fun!
