The Restless Desert
![]() |
There are two ways to cross The Restless Desert - the easy way¸ and the hard way. The hard way is to find a guide who will not kill you¸ find the coin with which to pay them¸ and find the luck you will need to survive. The easy way is much more straightforward: simply attempt the crossing on your own. You will most certainly die¸ but the sands will inevitably deposit your corpse on the other side a few hundred years later."
To the East lies The Protectorate:
A safe haven¸ a fresh start¸ or an easy mark¸ depending on your outlook. All you need to do is get there. But to do that you will first need to cross The Restless Desert.
The Restless Desert is no natural wasteland. It is a woeful scar of - and a testament to - the awful weapons used in an ancient conflict. Its sands shimmer and weave¸ oases and landmarks drift treacherously¸ and myth suggests that in the centre of the desert day and night no longer keep their pace and even stranger phenomena abound.
And worse yet¸ something is stalking the dunes.
