The Corrupted Treant (One Shot)

A deadly combat for 4-6 characters level 11-15. To be sure¸ there will be some groups who will have an easy time of this. But for most¸ the characters had better work together and think quickly¸ because things can go ugly very¸ very fast. This is a straight-up melee oriented single encounter against a very tough opponent. In addition to multiple attacks¸ there are legendary actions¸ lair actions¸ bonus actions¸ and reactions. There are even a series of Matt Colville's Villain Actions that play out over several rounds to build tension and still more danger. Player Comments "We were forced to retreat on the first attempt when 2 out of our 6 party members went down in the first 2 rounds. A second attempt went much better¸ but required a LOT of tactical planning." "This is the first time in ages that I was seriously concerned our party might not make it through the battle." "Even with 2 paladins in constant smite-mode¸ and an assassin that dropped an 85 point bomb to start the combat¸ it felt like that treant would never go down."
