Summer Song Hollow is a peaceful Halfling village surrounded by vegetable fields and orchards. Recently¸ a new potion is being exported from the village that has disturbing alchemical properties. In the city of Strunvel¸ this new potion induces a euphoric sensation¸ many have become addicted. A side effect of this new concoction is that anyone under its influence is susceptible to suggestion¸ obeying most commands. Criminal gangs within the District of Drought of Strunvel have taken advantage of this aspect¸ turning the poor of Strunvel into unwitting accomplices or addicted servants. The captain of the guard for the district has tracked the drug's source back to Summer Song Hollow. An operative had been sent to investigate but has not returned. Not wanting to risk any more of her guards¸ the captain has put out a call for an adventuring group.
