Midwest Mythos: Under the Dunes

In the small town of Pentwater on the West coast of Michigan¸ a young family has gone missing. News of the horrible event travels swiftly through the nation as details start to emerge. During the night of a storm¸ the Lyon family home was broken into by an intruder. Mrs. Lyon was killed and stabbed in the stomach. Mr. Lyon and his two children are missing and presumed either kidnapped or dead.
The local police are stumped¸ and theories persist over what happened. Some are adamant that this is a mob hit and Mr. Lyon was deeply indebted after frivolous gambling debts. Others claim that there was a traveling madman who has killed the family and hidden their bodies for sport. No one is able to come up with anything that fully explains what happened and the police have quickly circled up over the crime scene and stopped speaking with reporters.
The investigators were invited by the mayor of Pentwater to help aid in the situation. They arrive at the Lyon House one day after Mrs. Lyon was found dead and the rest of the family missing.
