Hic Sunt Myrmeleones
![]() |
The Twin Canals mirror each other so closely that astronomers on Earth have mistaken the doubling for an optical illusion. Where Thoth curves¸ Nepenthes follow. And midway between the two¸ their little sibling: The Thin Desert¸ where verdure can no longer reach. A pseudo-canal of dunes¸ hills¸ ruined palaces. Caravans cling to the imperial roads when crossing the desert. For bands of jackals and gods--forsaken things stalk the empty -mansions and petrified forests¸ and a single night suffices to get eaten¸ waylaid or driven mad.
Hic Sunt Myrmeleones is a Red Planet pocket bestiary featuring:
Eight illustrated monsters of the Thin Desert¸ including the titular Antlion. Each monster is presented with statblocks¸ suggested lairs¸ spoors and random tables. Random tables of caravans¸ travellers¸ petty hermits and weird events to round out your desert encounter tables. Six Red Planet spells with a note on Arean magic. As well as an unlockable class: The Cinnamon Hunter
The bestiary should work with any level based adventure games in the classic tradition¸ and most entries are adaptable to weird deserts of a wider girth.
