Group Status
One of the basic assumptions of tabletop roleplaying games is that the world reacts to the players' actions. In a believable world¸ a group of heroes that saved the city should be recognized by its people. That recognition can benefit them. The same¸ if opposite¸ is true for negative recognition. A band of adventurers can be declared outlaws by the city watch¸ and have a bounty placed on their heads. If they choose to stay in the city¸ this will almost certainly hinder them. Group Status is a meta-mechanic that instill the consequences of fame and influence to the game. It creates opportunities for the players to promote the story using connections and titles. At the same time¸ it grants the dungeon master means to relay a clear message - the world remembers. (Jump to 07:26 in the video below)
