Thank you for considering The Plague of Pentapolis. We are pleased to present it to the community and are quite happy with the overall result. Below are the features found within this adventure and what to expect.
Introduction: Welcome to Pentapolis¸ where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Our story begins with a terrible plague taking hold of the city. The streets are filled with death¸ the people in confusion¸ and nothing seems to be helping. Characters are called to aid the city but what starts as a simple mission becomes one that will entangle the characters in a bitter conflict between law¸ religion¸ the shady underworld¸ and ancient powers thought to have been destroyed.
A full overview of the adventure can be found within this adventure's product preview.
The Plague of Pentapolis is a Dungeons & Dragons adventure designed for four to five (though one or two more is ok) characters starting at 1st level. By the end of the story¸ the characters should be at least 17th level. Additional and earlier levels may be gained by those who are bold enough to seek them.
The Adventure: The Plague of Pentapolis is an adventure that starts adventurers off at level 1 and ends them on at least level 17. The adventurers will level up based on milestone events and side quests. The main adventure is around 150 pages long¸ and the side quests make up an additional 120 pages. During the testing phase¸ with us playing once a week with a four to five-hour-long session¸ it took our group of four players almost two years to finish both the main adventure and the one-hundred side quests.
Side Quests: As mentioned before¸ The Plague of Pentapolis boasts of one-hundred side quests. These side quests could be as simple as a role-playing event where players need to use various Ability Checks or as complicated as a mini-dungeon filled with traps¸ puzzles¸ and combat. Regardless of the side quest¸ each has a beginning¸ middle¸ and end. Adventurers will gain one additional level with any ten side quests completed¸ regardless of their difficulty. Moreover¸ these side quests are perfect for gaining additional treasures¸ expanding the city and the people¸ or even allowing players to take a break from the main adventure.
Dungeons: The Plague of Pentapolis contains over twenty fully written dungeons. Each dungeon contains deadly traps¸ brain-busting puzzles¸ and fearsome foes. These dungeons come in various sizes¸ but each packs a punch of excitement.
City Factions: Adventurers have the option to join one of twelve possible factions within The Plague of Pentapolis. Each faction contains requirements to join and perks for joining. These factions greatly improve the players' resources and overall experience with the adventure.
DM Guides and Inserts: One of the goals of The Plague of Pentapolis is to be as user-friendly as possible¸ especially for newer DMs. This adventure contains extra resources to make a DM's life easier. These resources include DM screen inserts (for those who use custom DM screens)¸ details on the city's factions¸ an overview of the adventure's story¸ one-hundred NPC¸ a list of areas where to add in personal NPC pertaining to a player's backstory¸ suggestions to motivate players¸ and a checklist of the one-hundred side quests.
Player and DM Maps: The Plague of Pentapolis contains both DM and player maps. The DM maps contain all the information a DM would need to know (area numbers¸ letter events¸ secret doors¸ etc.). The player maps are simple layouts of the dungeon or area without the DM secrets and info. Maps are designed to emulate the blue and white maps from the TSR days.
New Items and Enemies: The Plague of Pentapolis contains several new items and enemies. Some items can also be found in Tommy's Terrific Treasures¸ but others are unique to this adventure. In addition¸ the adventure contains multiple new enemies used for the story's purpose¸ but we feel these enemies can be used in any situation.
One-Hundred Ready to Use NPC: While major NPC are important to the over story and side quests¸ Pentapolis is a big city¸ and you never know when you'll need to use an everyday citizen. The Plague of Pentapolis contains one hundred prewritten characters that can be used for a quick insert when the time arises.
Important NPC for Player's Backstories: The Plague of Pentapolis encourages players to write their own backstories and for the DM to use these backstories where they can within the adventure. The adventure provides multiple areas where it's encouraged for the DM to insert important NPC or events into the main story or side quests.
