Baradorian Chronicles is part replay¸ part note transcription¸ part world building¸ part game engineering¸ part novelization¸ part developer blog; a little of everything¸ really. It tells the story of a fantastic and old world struggling to survive as it is beseiged by vile things from all sides.
As the chapters of Baradorian Chronicles publish¸ they will follow a primary storyline. Occasionally¸ chapters will appear that are self-contained short stories¸ as well as side stories that will pause the main storyline. A couple other concurrent storylines will be appearing eventually as well. Interspersed¸ there will be things appearing that you would find in an author's series bible - pages about races¸ careers¸ magic¸ geography¸ culture¸ personal biographies¸ etc. Initially¸ the "bible notes" will come on heavy and the story a bit slow in order to build up enough background information for things to make sense. Along with these author's notes¸ there will be significant game design documents appearing along the way¸ eventually culminating in the final version of the Moderna System. Once enough background exists¸ the story will flow more quickly.
The key to a good story is to have an idea that can be summarized in a single sentence¸ then expouding from there. Having that single sentence to fall back upon when scripting gets lost helps you refocus like nothing else. In this instance that original sentence was "Magic seems to be dying¸ but can it be saved?"
So here we are¸ with the initial offering¸ the first three chapters.
