People in the small¸ peaceful village of Maplegrove have noted strange happenings during the past few weeks. The baker wakes up to find the dough already rising. Gossip travels twice as fast. A mother hears the laughter of her daughter in two different rooms. Fearing a haunting ‐ or worse ‐ the villagers put out a call for help. This adventure provides 4-6 hours of mystery and misdirection for players level 3-4. (Though there are suggestions to increase or decrease difficulty.) The module also includes notes for the DM on setting tone and interpreting official monster lore for its iconic antagonist¸ the Doppelganger. "A Place to Call Home" aims to be friendly to both new players and new DMs¸ and draws only from content that can be found in the three core books. It features plot hook suggestions to use either as a stand-alone adventure¸ or meshed into an existing campaign. Welcome home.
