With the spring thaws rumors have spread that none of the residents of the Westhold have been seen outside the borders of the Barony and those that go in don't come back out. Only a handful of brave rangers¸ foresters and hunters have journeyed into the forests and uplands of the barony and they returned with tales of roving bands of humanoids¸ entire villages devoid of population and everywhere a crimson rune¸ painted on the shields of orcs and goblins and smeared on the crude hides of ogres. The trails of the raiders come and go from a long¸ rocky gorge that ends at a cavernous mouth.
