Stealing The Stones
![]() |
Stealing the Stones is a heist game in which a band of scoundrels led by the greatest scoundrel of them all¸ Merlin¸ steal the ritual circle that will one day be called Stonehenge.
Five thousand years ago¸ strong Welsh hands armed with nothing more than hammers made of rock struck eighty great stones from the living earth and raised them to form a ritual circle: the Giant's Dance.
Four hundred years later a band of scoundrels from the east sneaked into Wales and spirited the stones away. They would be transported 140 miles over river¸ sea and land to Salisbury plain where they formed part of the most famous stone circle ever built: Stonehenge. Nobody knows how this was achieved - but you are going to find out.
If you are Welsh and horrified by the idea of re-enacting this historic crime¸ you can instead play out the reverse: re-patriate this stolen national treasure. No need to change any other details.
Stealing the Stones is a hack of Stealing the Throne by Nick Bate. It can comfortably be played in 2 hours¸ with 3-5 players¸ a pack of standard playing cards and a six-sided die.
