Skeletons in the Closet
You are traveling across the country on a road trip in the late 90s/early 00s. It is your college break¸ and you want to see the other side of the country. You have reached the middle of America¸ the heartland. The land is flat. The farms are numerous. The towns are small and the cell reception is minimal. You are somewhere between Topeka and Manhattan¸ Kansas when your engine begins to make a noise¸ causing you to pull over in the town of Mendozet. It is late in the afternoon. The local mechanic can fix your car¸ but it is going to take a couple of days.
Unfortunately¸ town is a really generous name for this place. Two streets¸ a motel¸ and a store barely larger than a gas station are all that is here. The motel doesn't even have HBO¸ just the basic package. Attempts to explore the town are met with questioning glances. "Just hang out in your room¸” is the common refrain from the townsfolk.
But when your microwavable food runs out after sunset and you decide to check the store for some more¸ you soon find out why the townsfolk were so shifty. In the darkness¸ you hear the scrapping sound of something dragging against the pavement. The streetlight flickers overhead¸ its stained yellow light draining the color from the sad cone it provides. Before long¸ a skeletal figure emerges into the light turning its eyeless skull in your direction.
Skeletons in the Closet is a horror investigation game. The skeletons roaming the town represent the sins and hidden facets of the town members. You must identify who the skeleton belongs to¸ investigate why the skeleton was created¸ and seek indemnity to eliminate the skeleton while avoiding becoming another victim of the town.
