100 Notes and Letters to Find on Urth
Characters will often encounter pieces of paper when searching places. Often¸ these may be important¸ but important writings shouldn't be the only ones they find. There will be other jottings that people will have written or received. Here are 100 simple notes and letters¸ threats¸ orders and warnings¸ signs of wrongdoing¸ proof of conspiracies or the ravings of madmen that can be used to disguise what's truly important and to make a setting come to life. Some are quite short and others are longer. These notes are tied to the Urth setting¸ and could be found in or about a particular location. This collection covers Azul¸ the Borderlands of Tear¸ the Desolation¸ Dis¸ the Freeholds of Nar¸ the Kingdom of God¸ the Kingdom of Sails and the Northern Reach.
Although none are intended to have any meaning beyond being a distraction that appears important¸ the GameMaster can¸ of course¸ decide whether any of these do have any meaning. These could be used as adventure hooks¸ or as ways of getting players to visit certain locations. Change the names and people¸ or add new ones where none is given¸ to appropriate ones from the campaign world where such might be applicable. A secondary d12 table has appearances for the notes.

Here are some sample results:
- It's good land here in the Claims of Tear. It's fertile and hasn't been farmed for so many hundreds of years that the land is worn out from raising crops. I'd warrant the land is better than any outside of Low Country. It was a good move¸ leaving our old farm and bringing the family here.
- Indara¸ I've managed to slip someone into the Ghost's crew. This should help get us information on Intonius¸ however indirectly.
- Inquisitor Morgan¸ peasants in some of the more distant villages of the Holy Kingdom have been spreading blasphemous rumours about the Cult of the New God being corrupt. You are directed to head to the region¸ with the forces you deem necessary¸ and deal with any blasphemers in an appropriate manner. Make an example of them¸ and any others necessary¸ to drive home the point that the Cult will not stand for such lies.
- Inquisitor Randolfus is a pain¸ but perhaps he can be turned to our use. Some of our enemies would doubtless fall under his purview. If we direct the good inquisitor in their direction¸ either he will remove them or they will remove him. Either way¸ we benefit.
- Joining the Holy Legion has been a great honour¸ furthering the holy cause of the New God. The lieutenant suggests that we may be called into action again soon¸ to drive the orcs out of Caecras and kill them all. I have no doubt that we will succeed¸ for the New god is on our side.
