Feudball III: On the road
The Flagstaff Jailbirds find themselves incarcerated once again after their victory in the final of the Imperial Championships. With Emperor Balder out of the picture¸ all three of his sons have declared their intentions for the throne¸ with the Imperial States descending into anarchy and a three-way civil war. The team is not alone this time¸ as the third-placed Breguet Rangers from Bourbon have been confined as well. Both sides soon realise that they can't stay confined for too much longer in the capital and start making plans for an escape.
But which way do they go? The battle lines are chaotic¸ with each brother trying to outmanoeuvre the other. Regardless of which direction they take there are risks involved. Do they take a short¸ albeit dangerous route of escape¸ or a longer apparently easier way out? And what of the Duke's friendship with Prince Albrecht? Will it be a boon or a fatal hindrance?
The Feudball series was inspired by movies such as The Longest Yard ¸ Rollerball and Salute of the Jugger as well as years of various table-top gaming activities. It is a fantasy football game¸ a violent¸ combative sport where lives are ruined and lost¸ and reputations earned and sullied. It is also a business¸ where fortunes can easily be made and quickly lost as well.
The setting for the story is a world that is at the dawn of an industrial era¸ with humans being the dominant race on a planet that they have to share with many other sentient races. There are urban sprawls and villages¸ white and blue-collared workers¸ and haves and have nots as well. Magic has not been completely lost to this world. Harnessed correctly¸ it is utilised in a number of ways¸ especially in the field of communications. Religion is organised as well¸ but there are still those who stick to the old ways.
Feudball III: On the Road is the third book of a three book series.
