Crying Owl
Being a good person isn't easy. Fresh out of the monastery Crying Owl makes friends with a Spellscar¸ a wizard returned from hell¸ Kovon¸ a savage barbarian and Eliza¸ a criminal on the run. Determined to make them good people Crying Owl finds the world turning on him¸ criminals¸ law enforcement¸ and even the forces of hell. To survive he is going to need more than a staff and a pet bird¸ he's going to need divine intervention. How can he be worthy of such help when even an agent his own order is hunting him? Crying Owl is set in a classic world of sword and sorcery where the local apothecary typically has a little magic squirreled away and you really ought to pay close attention when things go bump in the night. This story is a reaction to all the stories of epic heroes and savage barbarians who have carved a bloody swath through everyone who opposed them. What hero leaves behind exponentially more bodies than the villain? It's a hard life to lead¸ when the hero must treat everyone with basic human decency.
