RATS! is a satiric RPG chronicling the rats' awakening and subsequent holy war against humanity¸ cats¸ dogs¸ snakes¸ owls¸ rat heretics¸ rat apostates¸ rats that are just plain annoying¸ inanimate objects¸ and rats that are probably okay but still worth XP.
This book contains everything you need to design and run ratty adventures in a world that just plain hates you. In addition to lots of character options¸ it's also full of traps¸ monsters¸ locations¸ lore¸ and includes a starting adventure for new characters.
It uses a unique d6-based system called Mutations and Mutilations¸ which forgoes hit points in favor of a huge number of exciting mutilations which you gather as you go through life. However¸ fear not¸ for as you're mutilated¸ you also mutate¸ for as the old saying goes¸ "that which does not kill us¸ makes us stranger."
RATS! contains 5 rat races (no pun intended)¸ 17 starting cultures with unique abilities¸ 36 habitats¸ almost 200 tricks and teachings¸ and over 800 mutations and mutilations! No two characters are going to be the same¸ even if you want them to be!
