Bibliophobia A Rules Light Solo Roleplaying supplement for Pulp Cthulhu
If you already own Monophobia¸ my rules for Call of Cthulhu¸ that booklet was recently updated to include a 50% off discount for this title.
Bibliophobia A Rules Light Solo Roleplaying supplement for Pulp Cthulhu This booklet provides a rules-light approach to solo roleplaying Pulp Cthulhu. It contains an oracle for answering your typical yes/no question. A muse that uses the common two-word prompts to inspire answers to open questions¸ a dice-based way for pushing events outside your control¸ and a tool for generating story prompts to get your adventures started. It is an excellent companion to quickstart your way into Pulp Cthulhu
The oracle answers questions about your scene. Put simply; you formulate a best case¸ most likely and worst-case scenario¸ and then roll to decide which is true. You can use this to resolve any question that you would put to your keeper when you want to clarify things from your character's point of view.
The muse exists to inspire your imagination to create elements within your game world. If you wanted to know what a letter was about you would roll on the muse tables and let it suggest a topic. The muse is built of work lists and the words were extracted from the Pulp Cthulhu rulebook¸ making the muse themed specifically for Pulp Cthulhu.
The story prompt tool uses a d20¸ four-column table. You roll on each column¸ who¸ what¸ an event¸ and where. The elements on this table were all extracted from the Pulp Cthulhu rules to keep them on topic.
I strongly suggest you watch the video below to get a better feel for what this booklet offers.
All my solo tools are aimed at getting players started in solo play. If you are experienced in solo playing you can still make use of some of the suggestions in these rules.
DriveThruRPG does not support Community Copies. The entire text of this supplement is viewable in the Full-size preview. If you cannot afford the cover price¸ please feel free to use the preview with my full blessing.
