"Several decades ago¸ archeologists uncovered irrefutable proof that aliens had come to Earth in the distant past¸ shaping and sometimes ruling over early human civilizations. Scientists named these mysterious visitors "primordials¸” and they found evidence that the aliens had once used humans to populate many other worlds¸ transporting them through a network of interstellar pathways.
After years of studying these findings and researching alien artifacts¸ scientists have finally discovered how to activate the primordials' gateway device. A drone traveled through the wormhole and reported a breathable atmosphere on the far side¸ so now the next step is to send through a group of specialists.
You are a team of elite operatives¸ the first humans in millennia to enter a gateway. Your mission is to explore new worlds¸ recover alien technology¸ and find further evidence of the primordials.”
Designed for DriveThruRPG's PocketQuest 2023 game jam¸ and inspired by science fiction movies such as Prometheus and Stargate¸ Paths Between the Stars is a standalone scenario for the Tricube Tales system and is usable as a micro-setting¸ but it is also a fully self-contained one-page RPG in its own right. You can print it on a single sheet of paper: The first page includes everything you need to play¸ while an optional second page expands the adventure generator with examples and twists. The PDF uses layers for ease of printing.
