Essential Enemies 2: The Outer Darkness is a third party monster manual for use with Old-School Essentials and other old school fantasy role-playing games.
This zine contains the following monsters:
Ammazriel: If his ten gemstone eyes can be assembled¸ the giant Keeper of the Maze will manifest on Earth and begin building the maze to trap the souls of humanity. The Black Lodge: A secret cult of demoniacs¸ bent on raising Hell. Gremlin Ghouls: The people of the Umber Isles are beset by invasive ghosts that burst forth from their bodies to attack the living. The Haunted Chair: Possessed by demonic forces¸ this chair has a thirst for human blood. Kobolds from Saturn: Crustacean farmers who live in the dimly shadowed dreamlands of a distant planet. Ladrozz: The vile gnome dwells in his dimension of darkness¸ constantly seeking a way to end his own imprisonment. The Purple Clouds: Gaseous guardians of ancient treasures¸ with psychic knives hidden within their vapours. The Rhinocorns: Bizarre homunculoids searching for the secrets of their origins in the ghosts of the ancient rhinocorns. The Serpent Egg: When this clay pot shaped like a pair of serpents is smashed¸ these creatures become real. But their bite is infectious¸ causing victims to become twisted¸ undead creatures. The Twisted Man: When a spirit from the Coriole Vortex possesses a human body¸ its flesh is warped and twisted beyond all recognition. But this is not even the end¸ for the spirit seeks to sate its appetites for material sensation. The Virhemoth: An ancient demon from an age that no longer even exists¸ feeding her milk to cultists so addicted they can no longer refuse her anything. Void Sharks: Soul-eating vampires that swim through the air and only grow faces once they come to this world. Where once they were summoned by wizards to serve as attack dogs¸ now they visit of their own accord. Zyvoth: A city drowned in darkness¸ where octohedrone guardians cannot stop the invasive population blooms of darkfish and sableworms.
Both pdf and print versions are 44 pages (plus cover) halfletter digest-sized (5.5 x 8.5). DriveThruRPG no longer offers staple-bound booklet options¸ so the print version offered here is standard colour with perfect binding (glued). The staple-bound booklet versions can be found at Lulu.

Content Warnings: Aside from its contents mostly consisting of extradimensional monsters that are hostile to humans¸ this book also contains mention of bodily invasive parasites¸ cult activity¸ demon worship¸ demonic breast milk¸ demonic and ghostly possession¸ drug addiction¸ the genocide of a fictional species of monster¸ human sacrifice¸ the magical coercion and enslavement of both humans and monsters¸ and magically animated furniture.
