Twisted 50s: A Campaign Frame
She walked into my office like it owed her something¸ and she already looked like a million dollars. She crossed over to the desk¸ sat on the client's chair and glared at me like I wasn't allowed on the furniture.
"Mr. Ward¸ I am Deliah Curwen and I want you to find my husband¸" she said.
We shot the breeze for a while and at the end of it I had $100 down payment and her telephone number. When she left¸ the light in the apartment dimmed a little¸ as if it was already missing her too.
"I don't like it¸" said my partner Joseph from out of the ether.
"I gotta eat¸ Joe¸ even if you don't."
"She gives me the willies."
"Damn it¸ Joe. It's supposed to work the other way. She's the gal¸ you're the ghost. She's the one who should be shaking."
