In the Blind - Partial Transmission
WELCOME TO LIFE ON THE RIM
In the Blind is a sci-fi horror roleplaying game for 3-5 players inspired by Trophy Gold¸ Mothership & Heart: The City Beneath.
It's about a group of gig economy workers living contract to contract on the roiling¸ wild edge of space. It's about CRT screens¸ mechanical keyboards¸ junction boxes¸ pipes and wires. It's about the unknown¸ the stresses of capital¸ and horror - visceral and ephemeral. It's about working hard jobs in dangerous conditions for little pay¸ and the chance of a better life.
You are a Freelancer - Salvager¸ Shipbreaker¸ Courier¸ Bodyguard¸ Assassin¸ First Responder¸ Negotiator¸ Investigator¸ Debt Collector. A Freelancer is any and all of these¸ depending on the contract - you'll take whatever you can get to make ends meet.
After the rent on your ship¸ replacing your gear¸ and the treatment for the injuries and stress¸ hopefully you'll have a little left over to put towards what you're really out here for.
Welcome to life on the Rim¸ where if the debt doesn't get you¸ the darkness will.
Overlord's crew are all dead. Ames bought it not long after boarding. Then Cyrus. Vickers - the poor bastard that brought us out here¸ lost it and ran off towards Vapor Processing. I've not seen him since. Not that I give a shit about him¸ now.
I've retrieved the central processing core¸ for what it's worth. It's operational¸ but I don't have to know-how to access it. Given the mess up here¸ I think that's probably a good thing. God knows what the Company want with it¸ but they're gonna be paying out the ass for it.
I think with a bit of luck I can make it through the maintenance tunnels to docking and back to the Reyes. If that thing doesn't find me first. I think I understand it now¸ though. Whatever 'it' is. Its patterns - how it moves¸ how it thinks. Its weaknesses. At least¸ I hope so.
Laura... you always told me if I stayed on the Rim too long¸ it'd get me killed. That it'd eat me alive. I told you once the only thing that could kill me out here would be the heartbreak. I guess we'll see who was right.
Teresa Moreno¸ last survivor of the Reyes. Signing off.
