Haven Fallen - Species Expansion - The Helkyst
The Haven Fallen Core Rulebook is required to use this Expansion
This Species Profile is provided to expand gameplay and further options for Character creation.
Some of the background lore for the Species is provided¸ but the nuances of culture and tradition may be further refined by the Storyteller (or the Player in conjunction with the Storyteller). The Known Universe is an almost unimaginably vast space¸ therefore truths and new pieces of information are constantly being brought to light.
As with all Original Frontiers systems the Storyteller has the final word on all matters pertaining to gameplay. If a rule within this book comes into conflict with the good of the story¸ the Storyteller is free to bend¸ amend¸ or ignore that rule to their discretion.
Above all I wish you a fun¸ expressive and creative roleplay experience.

The Helkyst are the offspring of the Formarian mortal Thesadon (Theseus to the Formari of Earth) and the Greater Supernal Helka of the Spirit Realm. Jealous of her sister Zhilta¸ the Goddess Queen of the Formarians¸ she enthralled Thesadon with her dark beauty and the promise of leading a mighty army against the Diaru. Hundreds of thousands of years passed in the Corporeal Realm¸ but to Thesadon it seemed only as a few decades. Each time Thesadon lay with Helka their spawn would multiply¸ until their children numbered one hundred thousand - a Legion of the Spirit Realm. Thesadon now indeed found himself at the head of a mighty army and¸ with Helka's permission¸ he returned to the Corporeal Realm. Thesadon chose the ancient battleground for his return - the Planet Stageus. To his dismay he saw that Stageus had not become one of the Eleven Sisters of the FSL as Zhilta had intended. Further still¸ it crawled with the same Diaru who had used Thesadon's kin as cattle and lab rats. Though Thesadon was no fool and fully comprehended the passage of time and the eventuality of peace¸ his passion overcame him and he led the slaughter of every single Diaru on the face of the Planet. Millions of Diaru were killed by the immortal (and nigh invincible) force of Thesadon's Legion¸ which he dubbed the Helkyst. As this took place Helka showed the visions of war and ruin to her sister in the Spirit Realm. Helka laughed as Zhilta wept¸ for Zhilta had long been forgotten by the Formarians but Thesadon cried the name of Helka as he led every charge. This transpired to be a mistake on Helka's part¸ as she had underestimated a millennium of quiet rage Zhilta had carried with her. Zhilta appealed to Baal¸ who granted Zhilta passage into the Corporeal Realm but barred the same request when it was made by Helka. Zhilta offered Thesadon the chance to rescind his worship of Helka and pledge his faith unto her. Thesadon¸ confident in his Legion of Helkyst¸ refused Zhilta with a retort: "One Sister of the Spirit Realm has given me an immortal army with which to avenge the people you abandoned. Why should I hold your council?” Zhilta could contain herself no longer. The desert plains of Stageus opened up on Thesadon and swallowed him whole¸ never to be seen again. When the Helkyst surged forward to face Zhilta she counted their number and struck every tenth warrior with a bolt of eviscerating lightning. The remaining nine thousand she cursed with mortality¸ allowing them to remain in the Corporeal Realm as pariahs of the Spirit Realm. Zhilta returned to the Spirit Realm and continues her war with Helka to this day. The Helkyst of today are descendants of the Legion of Nine Thousand¸ who claimed Stageus as their own and held the FSL and Diaruvarn Empire at bay using salvaged Diaru tech. A recent peace struck between the Helkyst and the two Assemblages they had brought so much chaos to means that they are free to explore¸ expand¸ and interact among the stars as would any other Species. It has been fifty years since Thesadon's return and the Helkyst are only just making their presence known beyond the deserts of Stageus.
