The Battle Servant Class - Maid & Butler rejoice
Have you ever wanted to dance through the battlefield wearing a maid outfit whilst dishing out justice? Play an imaculate butler that throws serving trays at those targetting his master? Be an insightful¸ firm but fair¸ Mary Poppins who commands respect whilst wielding subtle arcane arts? Then the Battle Servant is for you. I created this class a while back for my homebrew campaign and now I offer it up for others to try. Contained within the PDF is a fully class¸ with three archetypes; Bodyguard ¸ Chef and Tutor ¸ detailed below. The concept I came up with when designed this class was what areas of the game didn't have much coverage by classes¸ expect in niche¸ or feat-heavy builds. I came upon improvised weapons and reactions ¸ both of which are utilised and enhanced by this class. So use mops¸ cutlery¸ frying pans¸ candlesticks and more to bewilder your foes with unheard of weapons. Then punish them by acting out of turn using increased reactions with new class specific abilities. When choosing your archetype within this class you can select from the following fun options: Bodyguard - Using easy to conceal/wield fist weaponry these servants specialise in intercepting attacks meant for others and protecting their masters fiercly. Use knuckle dusters¸ gauntlets to smack the enemy about when other weapons are not ready to hand. Use reactions to move in the path of attacks against allies Resist damage briefly to help keep you in the fight. Prevent an ally from falling in battle and protect them from damage Chef - As comfortable on the battlefield as in the kitchen the Chef servant specialises in using his cooking expertise in unexpected ways. Prepare from a list of recipes a variety of meals to bolster your allies or debilitate your foes. Don't let that delicious dragon you just slew go to waste¸ carve it up for more cooking throughout the day. Make Clerics and Druids envious as you make their Heroes Feast look like mere rations in comparison. Tutor - Teaching comes easy to the Tutor servant¸ be it manners¸ ettiquete or magic. They love seeing their students flourish¸ but always show who knows best. Distract enemies with unusual magic just as they strike. Teach your barbarian or monk a spell of yours for the day¸ or enlighten other spellcasters with something a little different. Use your reactions to cast spells not normally seen cast with such speed.
