Hippogryph Issue Five
Welcome to Issue Five: Quaranzine Part 2
I f you haven't read Issue Four¸ I need to tell you that t his is not an issue packed with advice c onverting the classic board game Pandemic in to a tabletop roleplaying scenario ¸ n or is it a devoted to Max Max-style post-apocalyptic settings. Sorry. It's the second of three issues that I've put together in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. I' ve needed to spend the time normally devoted to creating this zine taking making arrangements for my mental and physical health. Trust me¸ I'd rather have been working on this.
I still need to make a living¸ though¸ which requires that I put out some sort of content. Thankfully the very nature of a zine is that it can be anything you want or need it to be. While I love the format of the early issues of hippogryph¸ I can break the rules from one issue to the next. The current health crisis has introduced the sorts of resource limitations that are a tried-and-true zine maker's raison d'etre. Putting together new issues as more of a creative challenge than an obstacle to be overcome.
W ay back in 1996¸ when dinosaurs roamed the earth¸ I ran an early RPG blog called UncleBear. It no longer exists¸ sadly¸ nor does a lot of the content. Periodically I've made briefs forays into resurrecting it in some form¸ but the Age of Blogs has long passed. They were once the new zines. Now zines are the new blogs.
This issue is made up articles from across various sites¸ still as relevant today as they were in the distant past when they were written. None are currently available anywhere else. You are supporting the environment by reading 100% recycled content¸ All of these articles have been re-edited and expanded where necessary to bring them up to date. Please enjoy them¸ and rest assured that I'll be back to producing entirely new content soon.
