World of Heroes
World of Heroes World of Heroes is designed to be played by a group of gamers¸ without the need for pen or paper or dice: you don't really need a playing surface. It can easily be played in cafes¸ coffee shops¸ pubs or on trains and in cars. It's a narrative-based game¸ where the cooperation and involvement of all the players is needed to tell a story revolving around a great adventure. It includes a very simple Challenge generation / resolution mechanic. Games can be set in any genre and on any scale¸ from a grand quest undertaken by a group of hardy fantasy heroes¸ to a space-opera adventure fought by righteous rebels against the evil Empire. Challenges can be on any scale¸ from full battles to personal Challenges¸ involving a single hero. Game-Play Overview World of Heroes is a collaborative¸ narrative adventure game¸ using a very simple Challenge generation / resolution mechanic¸ based on Character / Challenge type. Starting with player one¸ each player collaboratively narrates a Scene. During each Scene Challenges are generated by the narrating player¸ Characters are selected for the Challenge from the group¸ the player controlling the Character resolving the Challenge narrates the action. When a Scene's Challenges are complete¸ move on to the next player with the next Scene. The game ends when all players have narrated 2 scenes each. The pdf contains examples of play and ways to expand the basic game.
