The first Diar to dedicate their life to the service of the law was Pazin of Vaskun¸ a daughter of the noble Evardredt dynasty. Seeking to avenge the murder of her brother¸ Pazin found corruption and political roadblocks befell her every avenue of recourse. Renouncing her familial name she swore to deliver justice by any means necessary. In the shadow of ignominy Pazin conducted her own investigations¸ initially to find the hand who struck down her brother¸ and found that the culprit was a former Tithebound soldier. The soldier was of poor means and diminished senses and it became clear that this man had been the instrument of a greater force¸ seeking only to provide a secure legacy for his young family. Pazin swore no harm upon his kin and gave him a quick end. She then spent decades unravelling a conspiracy of deceit and treachery which ultimately threatened to depose the Grand Pariun. Pazin's vengeance was delivered when she and a band of loyal companions¸ known as the Paziniars¸ stood at the Grand Pariun's side to prevent an attempt on his life. The events of Carul Spring are well-documented and oft exaggerated¸ but the abiding truth is that when the carnage had settled the Grand Pariun¸ blood-soaked and barely clinging to his life¸ decreed Pazin to be his instrument of justice.
Pazin's doctrine is the only recognised law enforcement throughout the Known World. The Paziniars¸ named for Pazin's original followers¸ are the only official enforcers of this doctrine. To this day they serve as investigators¸ bounty hunters¸ and keepers of the peace.
