Bitter Rivals is an adventure designed for use with Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus¸ featuring a bitter rivalry between the avernian warlords Smiler the Defiler and Bitter Breath. It's a story of lies¸ betrayal and deceit¸ which will have the adventurers ambushing a war machine patrol ¸ staging a heist on Bitter Breath's war camp ¸ and embarking on a desperate infernal war machine chase to escape with their lives ‐ culminating with an epic showdown between Avernus' most bitter rivals. This adventure is designed for a party of 8th-level adventurers ¸ but with advice on how to balance difficulty. It features a full day of adventuring ¸ spanning 1-3 sessions of play¸ depending on your group's pace.
