People of the Sun

This is an adventure for Cepheus Engine.
Stefan Chu is an anthropologist that has been studying desert peoples on several worlds in the Sonora sector for over a decade. For years he has been hearing rumors¸ stories and legends about an ancient culture that may have lived on some of these worlds long ago. The native's to the desert worlds in this sector refer to these humans as "The People of the Sun.” Stefan teaches Anthropology at the Sonoran University and has a strong interest in writing papers about this culture if any information can be obtained about them.
Recently Stefan has heard rumors about some recently discovered ruins on the planet Garen. Garen¸ however¸ is not a desert world at all. It is an agricultural planet in the Pamal Alliance. The planet was a desert like planet once but was terra-formed by the alliance long ago. These ruins were found recently in a remote part of the world not used in the corporate farming operations.
Stefan is getting up there a bit in years. At 86 years old he no longer goes on active archeological expeditions. He was once a renowned archeologist with many solo expeditions to his credit. Now he needs a little help.
He offers CR 150¸000 for the travelers to visit the planet Garen and investigate these ruins. He wants several questions answered if possible including:
- Are the former inhabitants of these ruins the People of the Sun?
- If not then who were they?
- Were they human even?
- What kind of technology did they have?
- How did they live? Were they peaceful? Were they hunters¸ farmers¸ gatherers or something else entirely?
- Bring back any relics found to be examined
