It couldn't have been more than a second or two as the Colonel stood aiming at the terrified boy. Finally¸ the Colonel¸ without taking his eyes or his aim off the kid¸ went for his pocket with his off-hand. The hand emerged with a 100-credit note¸ shoving it into the kid's shirt pocket. "You never saw us... kompreni ?" the Colonel growled. The kid twitchily nodded. The Colonel¸ satisfied he was no longer a threat¸ rushed past him. I followed¸ shooting a glance at the guard as I did. The color still hadn't returned to his face¸ and I could smell the distinctive scent of urine. Security guards have existed since ancient times.
