7 Wargame Scenarios. The Battles for Abbeville and the Somme
These 7 wargame scenarios feature the battles for the operationally significant Somme crossing at Abbeville¸ and other actions on the Somme near Abbeville. Abbeville¸ an important crossing of the Somme near the Channel Coast¸ had been captured by the Germans on 20 May and then¸ as the panzers moved north towards Dunkirk¸ had been handed over to follow on troops. By 28 May the bridgehead to the south was defended by the 57th (Saxon) Infantry Division. The bridgehead was vital for the Germans for the second major offensive¸ Fall Rot¸ and the Allies chose Abbeville as the spot for a major effort to counter attack the Germans. The stage was set for bitter fighting. This pack includes scenarios for three major French attacks and two British against the Abbeville bridgehead. It also includes an action by the British 1st Armoured Division to the east of Abbeville as it tries to secure other crossings of the Somme¸ and one other scenario as the British 51st (Highland) Division faces the opening moves of the German offensive on 5 June. These scenarios have detailed maps and organisations for battles and are designed for wargamers who enjoy their history as much as their gaming. All scenarios include the actual map from 1940¸ accurate forces and real battles. These are highly detailed and well researched games. The PDF preview details the scenarios included.
