Monophobia - Rules Light Solo Roleplaying (BRP)
onophobia Rules Light Solo Roleplaying
This book is designed for use with 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu but will work perfectly well with any edition if you are aware of the positive and negative dice rules and the concept of half and one-fifth values. A character's Luck¸ half luck¸ and one-fifth of their Luck attribute play a major role here.
I am fully aware that these are not the only solo rules for Call of Cthulhu in the Miskatonic Repository. This book takes a completely different approach to solo play than the Solo Investigators Handbook. That PDF is 95 pages and has tables for just about everything.
The solo rules in this booklet represent a light-touch approach to solo play. There is one table for plot hooks to kick off a solo sandbox campaign. It is a 10 x 10 x 10 table¸ commonly called a d1000 table¸ These create a who¸ what where plot hook to get you going.
Optional tables are provided for answering Keeper questions but when playing you will not need to refer constantly to this booklet. This is a book of techniques to drive your improvisation. If you are having a day when inspiration deserts you¸ then you can fall back on the tables.
There is also a section on running investigations¸ using either an open sandbox or a purchased campaign. A slightly different technique is used for purchased campaigns. In the sandbox no one will know¸ not even you will know what is really going go behind the plots and conspiracies until you discover the truth for yourself. Everything is open until the clues you have discovered point you to the truth.
To use this booklet you will need a copy of the Call of Cthulhu rules¸ two sets of d100 dice¸ and a pack of regular playing cards.
Drive.Thru.RPG does not support Community Copies. The entire text of this supplement is viewable in the Full-size preview. If you cannot afford the cover price¸ please feel free to use the preview with my full blessing.
