Supplement: The Arcane Compendium (PBtA)
Do you find yourself wanting more options for your wizard? Look no further! Within you will find 8 alternate wizard playbooks¸ each focusing on a specific school of magic. All spells now have spell schools¸ much like other systems you may be familiar with. But thats not all! You will also find new Arcane Spells¸ magic and mundane items¸ 2 brand new playbooks (The Archmage and the Psionic)¸ and an entirely different system for casting spells using Mana!
Included Alternate Wizard Classes :
The Abjurer - A wizard who practices abjuration more than any other magic is known as an Abjurer. The spells in this school revolve around protection and the dispelling of other magical effects. Most other spell casters are distrustful of Abjurers due to this fact¸ and also because many organizations that police magic use are composed mainly of Abjurers.
The Diviner - A wizard who practices divination more than any other magic is known as a Diviner. The spells in this school involve the remote viewing of people¸ places and things¸ along with some manner of predicting the future or seeing past events. Other spell casters can be either wary or interested in a Diviner¸ depending on their own goals or secrets.
The Enchanter - A wizard who practices enchantment more than any other magic is known as an Enchanter. The spells in this school involve controlling others¸ along with bestowing some magical properties to objects. Other spell casters usually value Enchanters for the creation of magic items¸ but distrust them due to their tendency towards manipulation.
The Evoker - A wizard who practices evocation more than any other magic is known as an Evoker. The spells in this school are the most purely destructive of arcane spells. Other spell casters may fear or respect an Evoker because of this.
The Illusionist - A wizard who practices illusion more than any other magic is known as an Illusionist. The spells in this school create deceptive illusions to fool the senses. Other spell casters either steer clear to avoid being made to look like fools or seek them out for aid when they wish to hide something valuable.
The Necromancer - A wizard who practices necromancy more than any other magic is known as a Necromancer. The spells in this school involve the dead¸ undead¸ or decay. Other spell casters fear Necromancers for the most part¸ but all magic has its uses.
The Transmuter - A wizard who practices transmutation more than any other magic is known as a Transmuter. The spells in this school involve enhancing natural abilities¸ granting new ones¸ or altering the physical properties of a thing. Other spell casters usually value Transmuters for these abilities.
The Summoner - A wizard who practices summoning more than any other magic is known as a Summoner. The spells in this school involve summoning things to the caster¸ as well as transporting things through portals or by other means. Other spell casters seek out Summoners in the hopes of gaining a rare beast or to negotiate travel between different places or even to go to entirely different planes of existence.
Included New Playbooks :
The Archmage - This class is a nod towards the mage characters you might find in a video game (though one specific game had more of a role in its development than any other). It has several moves to make its resource (Mana) last longer¸ while also coming equipped with many new spells to lay waste to your enemies. Its much more combat oriented than the classic Wizard¸ so if you have someone who just wants to blast things in newer ways with a lot more variety¸ this is the playbook for them!
The Psionic - A different kind of caster¸ namely one that uses a resource other than Mana
