Just a Game - Playtest Packet - PbtA Version 2 (PBtA)
This is a playtest packet.
This packet is the second rule build for the Powered by the Apocalypse version of this game. The first build is still available from my publisher page.
There should be enough here for even people new to Powered by the Apocalypse games to try it out but do note that the packet does not have the sort of discussion on the intentions of the PbtA system you would find in other games using the system so it mght be best to have someone who has experience. The other games I borrowed concepts from are listed in the first page.
Note that the character art is currently filler from art I already owned connected to characters I have played in several different game systems over the past few years. Or have made and hope to play eventually. I hope to use the same artist for the finished product¸ however.
You're logging up on the computer¸ happily cracking open the brand new shiny MMO you just downloading from the company site¸ ready to make your character and start on a new set of adventures. But something changes when you click "start playing"....because instead of watching a load screen boot up¸ you find the world turning black and when you wake up it seems like you've become your character and the world around you is...is the tutorial mission. What the hell is going on here?
Or maybe you were putting on your VR sim helmet and about to boot up for some online virtual gaming and suddenly there's a madman telling everybody that they need to appreciate life more and so he's going to give them a real death game. Now you're stuck in the game and if someone tries to take the helmet off¸ it'll fry your brain. The only way to get out is to clear the game¸ but if you die in the game¸ you die in real life.
The rules in this packet are meant to recreate stories like those above. Stories where people find that the games they're playing have become very real indeed.
